How do we access Summer Sessions?
The entrance is from Bankhead – opposite Co-op
Do we need a ticket?
Summer Sessions is free to attend and there are no tickets! Some family workshops may require advance booking – check our website for details.
What is the capacity?
Summer Sessions capacity is limited to 250 people – please arrive early to ensure admittance. Once the festival is full, we will operate a one in, one out policy. We will have onsite security and stewards throughout.
Are there toilets on site?
Yes. There will be three portaloos on site including an accessible portaloo.
Is it Family Friendly? What about Under-18s?
Absolutely! We’ve got kids workshops throughout the week and plenty of space to roam. There’ll be toilets and a quiet area in the Bell Tent if anyone needs a break. For the live music events (Fri-Sun), Under-18s must be accompanied by an adult. ID will be required for entry to licensed areas. Our bar operates a Challenge 25 policy, so if you look under 25, please bring valid ID.
Can we take our own alcohol on site?
No. Our licence means that no one can take their own alcohol on site. Our fully stocked bar will be open on gig nights. No alcohol can leave the site.
Cash and card?
Our bar will accept both cash and card payments.
Can we take our own snacks/food on site?
We will have catering available Friday to Sunday. Picnics are fine, but please no alcohol or glass on site.
Do you provide reusable cups?
LAC can provide a reusable cup for a £2.00 deposit. We encourage you to keep your cup and reuse it throughout the weekend
Is there parking?
There are various different car parks within close proximity to the Rosebank, please visit Parkopedia – Wick to see some options. We encourage audiences to walk wherever possible!
Is there public transport?
Trains run from Thurso to Wick on Friday and Saturday. Buses run to Wick from Thurso, John O’Groats, Lybster and other areas, check out https://www.ember.to/ and https://www.stagecoachbus.com/timetables for more information. Please note, public transport options on Sundays are very limited. Local taxi companies are available.
What if it rains?
Caithness weather can be unpredictable so we would encourage people to come prepared with appropriate clothing. We’ll have some covered areas, but bring your waterproofs and brollies just in case!
Is there seating?
LAC has a small number of chairs and blankets available but please feel free to bring your own camping chairs and picnic blankets if you would like a seat.
Are dogs allowed?
Unfortunately, after many years of welcoming well-behaved dogs to Summer Sessions, we have had to make the decision this year that dogs are not allowed. The events can be loud and crowded, and we believe that this will be better for everyone’s safety and comfort.
Is the site accessible?
Yes, the site is flat and wheelchair-friendly but please be aware it is grass and could become muddy / bumpy. We’ll have accessible toilets and an accessible bar available. If you have any access needs or questions, please contact us in advance on info@lytharts.org.uk
Is it really free?
Yes, Summer Sessions is free to attend. You can however make a donation to Lyth Arts Centre at any time during Summer Sessions, either at the bar or at one of our donation buckets.
For any other questions, please contact info@lytharts.org.uk and someone will get back to you.
