Lyth Arts Centre Crit Club – INFO

Lyth Arts Centre Crit Club

Part of the Lyth Arts Centre Associate Artists Network

The LAC Crit Club is a relaxed, supportive gathering for artists of all disciplines across Caithness and Sutherland. It’s a chance to show your work, hear how others experience it and join in constructive conversation about creative practice.

Each session 3- 4 artists will share a work in progress or a finished piece.
The format is simple and friendly:

  1. Presentation (10 mins) – the artist introduces their work, context and intentions
  2. Group Discussion (15 mins) – the group responds while the artist listens
  3. Q&A (5 mins) – the artist joins the conversation and reflects on the feedback

We will talk about process, materials, ideas and what resonates – always with curiosity and care.

We hope this will be an opportunity to get fresh perspectives and constructive feedback on your work. It will also give artists the chance to practice talking about your ideas in a supportive setting whilst connecting with other local artists.

Crit Club is part of the LAC Associate Artists Network, which supports artists across the North Highlands through connection, collaboration and professional development. The pilot sessions will be facilitated by LAC Director Charlotte Mountford, setting the tone and structure for the programme. Future sessions will feature guest facilitators from across different art forms, and over time, we’ll offer training for local artists to become facilitators themselves.

Crit Club will be held every 2 months at LAC with some sessions hosted by partner venues around Caithness and Sutherland.

Each session is limited to around 15 participants to keep discussions focused and supportive. Free to attend but booking required. Hot drinks and biscuits provided.
