Fun Palaces: A Flower For A Friend

As part of Fun Palaces 2020, Lyth Arts Centre will be showing people how to make simple origami flowers. We will be encouraging people to create one flower or to turn these into small bouquets of colourful flowers to give to others and spread a bit of joy in the community.

Since lockdown began Lyth Arts Centre has been working with local artists and other community groups to deliver art based projects to help with the wellbeing of those in the community who may have been facing some tough times. The idea for this Fun Palace came from a recent project with Lybster based artist Karlyn Sutherland. Children in a small community were encouraged to make two different types of origami flowers and give them out to isolating members of their community. As it was such a fantastic idea we would like to now invite others to do the same and follow our instructions and fun videos. We will show you how to make the flower or perhaps make a whole bunch and encourage you to pass this on to someone in your community to spread some colour and joy.

To join in, download the instructions below or join us on Facebook for a tutorial video on Saturday 3rd October!
