The Wrigley Sisters in concert
Combining mastery with mischief and tradition with modernity, The Wrigley sisters, Jennifer and Hazel, are unquestionably two of the highest profile cultural and creative arts 'ambassadors' to emanate from Orkney and are clearly appreciated as such within their home community.
The twins began performing – Jennifer on fiddle and Hazel on piano and guitar – when they were eight. Their audience appeal reflects both the calibre of their music and the effervescent charm of their performances. They have undertaken three world tours, visited forty-seven countries and appeared in countless television and radio productions. After years of touring, they returned to Orkney and in 2004 set up The Reel – predominantly a music school but also encompassing a café & bar, music shop, venue and exhibition space.
They have become Lyth favourites and come back over the Pentland Firth every few years to entertain us with their fine playing and cheery sense of humour. Their concerts are always a delight with many happy smiling faces as the audience file out at the end of the night.
As long as bad weather doesn't prevent the ferry from bringing them to us they will escape from their busy Kirkwall music centre for an evening and be back home again the next day.
Please book early to avoid disappointment as their concerts always sell out.
