Pacific Curls – Celtic Soul to Pacific Roots July 25, 2014

A rare opportunity to hear music from the Pacific Islands with a Celtic twist performed by a female trio using a wide and unusual range of instruments. Although this is a free performance arranged by The Touring Network as part of nationwide celebrations for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, booking is required.
With a cornerstone of backbeat Pacific rhythms, vivacious fiddle playing and evocative Maori instrumentation and lyrics, Pacific Curls have pioneered a fusion sound that seamlessly blends theirindigenous roots of Pacific, Maori and Celtic cultures. They sing lyrics in Te Reo Maori (the indigenous language of New Zealand), Rotuman (an Austronesian language) and English and play a range of traditional Maori instruments called Taonga Puoro as well as the more familiar ukulele, cajon, fiddle, guitar, stomp box and kalimba.
