Lyth Jazz Exchange 2010 Concert October 31, 2010

Lyth Jazz Exchange 2010, ConcertJazz    Lyth Jazz Exchange 2010, Concert
Sunday 31st Oct.  8pm, 2 hours including an interval, age 12+

This year’s event will see some younger and some less-experienced musicians, The Sunday Night Band, sharing the stage with a new line up, The Caithness Jazz Sextet, after an afternoon of workshops and rehearsal. The concert will present some material which each band has recently been working on along with other work created on the day of the event itself.

The Sunday Night Band has more that twenty musicians, many of them wind and reed players, who meet to rehearse regularly in Thurso on Sundays. The Caithness Jazz Sextet has recently formed and rehearses at Lyth.

This will be the latest in our series of Lyth Jazz Exchanges which bring jazz lovers and performers together to share a spirit of mutual enthusiasm. It is an opportunity for everyone to improve their musical knowledge and skills and is open to musicians of any age and degree of musical ability.

The concert is designed to allow participants, some of whom may never have done so before, to have the opportunity to perform in front of a live audience. Friends and family members are especially welcome!

Dear William, I just wanted to say many thanks for the Jazz Exchange. I had a wonderful time and learnt a great deal. Talking to Sue McKenzie we thought it was a shame there just wasn’t enough time and she said she’d be interested in coming back and doing a weekend workshop. If this were to happen, I’d be very interested. Many thanks,
    Elizabeth Masden

Another brilliant night at Lyth! An intimate night of fun, good music and laughter! Good to hear the results of the workshops, especially the young ones who were a joy to listen to. Then on to the music masters including William Wilson on the piano; a change from being director, adding his musical talents to a great sound. Ian Sinclair, band-leader, musician and singer; good to hear your voice again….all together a wonderful night and a great way to end the season! Thank you all so much…
