What is Queer-centered?
Queer-centred means that this not just a safe space for LGBTQ+ people, but one where their needs are priortised, and we feel this is a crucial environment to create at the moment as LGBTQ+ people face a lot of discrimination. We want young LGBTQ+ people to have an environment where they are in the majority; where – if they wish to – their autobiography can be explored in the art they want to make – in a healthy, stimulating space.
For the Winter Weekender we want hungry inquisitive minds that want to question our norms. Queer in this sense, doesn’t just mean gender or sexuality – it’s everyone who wants to maybe see the world differently and look at what we can all do better.
We are excited to welcome fierce LGBTQ+ allies into our room – discrimination is never part of our agenda… If you think the Winter Weekender is for you – as a fierce ally – please email Helen Moore helen@lytharts.org.uk before booking a ticket.
