In the Light of the Moon is a new piece of dance theatre by LJS Projects, with original composed music, that explores the meaning, metaphor and symbols of compulsive behaviours, addiction and mental health awareness with a particular interest in investigating the challenges of the journey towards recovery.
This contemporary and creative dance workshop will be facilitated by LJS Projects. During these workshops, participants will be introduced and invited to explore the notion of mental health awareness through discussions, dance sequences and led movement improvisation. The workshop will allow participants to explore complex ideas, feelings and emotions, and find creative ways to express that in movement through the support of the workshop leaders, and will then create a dance piece in response around the subject matter, that will be performed as an opening at the sharing of In the Light of the Moon on Friday 6th March.
Workshops are open to anyone interested in dance and in the subject matter, no previous dance experience required, just an open mind and willingness to explore and try new ways of moving. Ideally participants will be available for both workshops and the sharing.
Thursday 5th March: Workshop 1 – 7pm – 9pm
Friday 6th March: Workshop 2 – 3pm – 6pm
Friday 6th March : Sharing – 7pm – 8pm
For ages 13+. Spaces are free but booking required.
Please note the objectives of the workshops are to raise awareness, increase understanding and encourage more positive attitudes towards mental health problems in young people and community members, promote understanding of people with mental health problems and involve the community and young people in a creative process that aids such objectives. Please be aware of the sensitivity this subject matter may requires and this may be triggering for some.
