Join us for the launch of Caithness Makar George Gunn’s latest volume of poetry, ‘Chronicles of the First Light’, published by Drunk Muse Press. George will read extracts from the 74-page new volume, alongside guest spots by other poets and musicians. George is a poet whose commitment and versatility has long been a compelling feature of the Scottish poetry scene.
Fiercely political, in this collection he confronts contemporary issues but maintains throughout an elegiac tone, immersing himself in the landscapes, language, legends and wide open spaces of the far north. Copies of the book will be available to buy at the event for £8 (£9.50 online at drunkmusepress.com)
George Gunn was born in Thurso in 1956 where he still lives. He has been a deep-see fisherman, a driller for oil in the North Sea, a journalist, playwright and poet. He has more than fifty plays for stage and radio to his name and is currently writer in residence at Lyth Arts Centre. Chronicles of the First Light is his fifth poetry collection and his first with Drunk Muse Press.
