During this short taster programme, you will learn the basics of letter carving skills and make a house number, paperweight, simple flower or celtic design on a small piece of Caithness Stone.

No drawing skills are required as templates will be available. There will be several styles of carving and letters to choose from which will suit different tastes and build confidence while you learn this heritage skill. The stone, all tools, masks and goggles will be provided for the lesson but please wear suitable clothing and closed toe footwear.

This is a progressive programme with four sessions;

Session 1: Saturday 21 May | 10am – 11am

Session 2: Saturday 4 June | 10am – 11am

Session 3: Saturday 18 June | 10am – 11am

Session 4: Saturday 2 July | 10am – 11am

Places are free but booking is essential. Please register below. Booking is all four sessions.

Caithness based artist Tamara Hicks studied 3D Design & Craft at Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen. She is a multi-disciplinary artist inspired by her environment who enjoys working with a variety of materials and is passionate about learning and teaching new skills.
