Caithness, Through My Window

This project began as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Without an Arts Centre open, without performers and artists able to visit, we needed to do something, within the boundaries of social distancing. We wanted to be able to reach out to our community by providing opportunities for creative learning and creative inspiration to help to create wellbeing in the home.

We are aware of the difficulties of home schooling and keeping the whole family entertained and under one roof at all times. Through creative play and creative learning, children and young adults can benefit intellectually, physically, socially and emotionally. At times of stress creative learning can be a way for children to express emotions which has a positive impact on wellbeing and mental health.

We have been working with 4 local artists to provide an original, creative, art activity pack that is available to all households in the Caithness area. The activity pack contains sections designed and illustrated by the following artists:
Joanne B Kaar, Hannah Cambridge, Lindsey Gallacher and George Gunn.

The booklet is A4 and includes various activities aimed at all ages. Activities can be adapted depending on ability, young children will need some assistance. The booklet will also include a blank stamped addressed postcard. On these we hope you will write any poems you may have created and/or any drawings you would like to share with us. Please post them back to us with your name and age. Then watch this space as you may see some of this artwork crop up in our future events! More information on that coming soon.
