Donna Swanson is an actor and experienced drama facilitator and educator who is based in Thurso. Donna also has a passion for creating new theatre and film. For many years, Donna has worked locally collaborating with professionals and community groups throughout Caithness and beyond.
In 2016 Donna graduated from Acting Coach Scotland and since then has continued to work within the creative industry.
Donna will be our ‘Thurso Artist in Residence’ and responding to the Thurso Locality Plan, will be collaborating with young people and communities in and around Caithness using theatre and film techniques to explore mental health and other local issues.
Donna said “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work within my local community and explore an issue that I feel very passionate about. Children’s mental health is an issue that I feel lacks a voice within our community, using the medium of theatre and film I hope we can explore mental health with the aim of creating a feature film that will help aid and inform our community and beyond”.
Donna has been busy building the framework for her project whilst sticking to the ever changing guidelines.
She already has some young people on board but is still looking for more local youths to get involved!
