An introduction to Bronagh – our Buggy Choir Facilitator…

Bronagh Braidwood - Buggy Choir Facilitator

My name is Bronagh Braidwood. I am originally from Derry, N.Ireland, but have had a nomadic lifestyle until I moved to Caithness from Edinburgh in 2014 with my young family. I am a business owner, The Highland Haven and Scone with the Wind honesty café, who likes nothing better than getting a group together for a singalong and a cuppa.

I started singing in choirs at the age of 7 and continued throughout school and university. I have always had a special place in my heart for it. A Highlight was singing for the 75th VE Day celebrations in 2020, at John O’Groats, which was broadcast to millions.

When I had my first son in 2005, I started a group for young mums in Leith called ‘Little stars’ which focused on singing to enhance the bond between toddlers and parents/carers. In 2015, I started Mey Melody makers, a singing group for mums/carers in Caithness with children of nursery age. This developed into Singing in the round, a group based in Dunnet, for those wishing to learn some easy Acapella. I have held retreat days in Lyth Arts with the emphasis on singing and good food.

I am so excited to start a buggy choir with Lyth Arts. I believe that singing can be used as a wonderful tool to not only develop bonds with our children but to help us cope with the day-to-day stresses of life. We provide a relaxed environment to meet other mums, have a singalong and of course, enjoy a cuppa 😊.
