Mairearad Green & Anna Massie in concert April 22, 2013

Mairearad Green & Anna MassieFolk Music – Mairearad Green & Anna Massie in concert
Mon 22nd Apr. 8pm

We are delighted to welcome back these two brilliant multi-instrumentalists and award winners; Mairearad (accordion and bagpipes) and Anna (guitar, banjo, and fiddle) are an instantly captivating duo, providing a warm and friendly stage presence and a highly energetic performance. They both grew up in the Highlands with similar musical backgrounds (most notably, mandolin playing Dads!) "They have an intuitive approach to each other's musical ideas and interpretations and an almost telepathic communication on stage" (Hi-Arts).

As well as their acclaimed endeavours as a duo – which have produced five star reviews and a fan base featuring KT Tunstall – individually Mairearad and Anna can also be seen performing with a number of well-known artists; The Poozies, Blazin' Fiddles, Karen Matheson, Bella Hardy, and Box Club, and together they join Scotland's one and only Celtic Big Band, The Unusual Suspects.

"…the camaraderie and sheer fun of musical collaboration is plainly evident and infectious." Songlines
" You guys were killing it…amazing playing!"
KT Tunstall
"The young Scottish duo of accordionist Mairearad Green and Anna Massie, on guitar and banjo…in sparkling style, performed largely original material with frequentplayfulness of delivery… belying their formidable technical prowess, in music that seemed much more than the sum of just two parts"
(FIVE STARS) The Scotsman
"Anna Massie on guitar, fiddle and banjo, Mairearad Green on accordion and smallpipes – adds up to a wide palette of permutations, most of which featured in thisrelaxed, highly enjoyable performance…shifting the lead/accompanist balance, swapping and sharing the melody,  harmony, chords and rhythms with deceptive fluency."
