Drama Magnetic North in "Walden", Friday, 24th Sept. 8pm, 50 minutes, no interval, age 14+
We are delighted to be able to host this highly successful piece of theatre which has been performed throughout Scotland to glowing reviews. It portrays the extraordinary occasion in 1845 when American writer Henry Thoreau moved to a small, self-built house on the shores of Walden Pond, Massachusetts to embark on a two-year experiment in simple living.
He lived alone and attempted to survive entirely by his own resources. "Walden", Thoreau's account of his time with nature is one of the most extraordinary and unclassifiable books ever written.
Following rave reviews and sell-out performances in 2008 and 2009, Magnetic North once again presents its beautiful, critically acclaimed one-man adaptation of this classic meditation of self-sufficiency and the desire "not to live cheaply or dearly but to live deliberately".
Walden is performed in an intimate in-the-round setting designed by visual artist Sans Façon with a strictly limited capacity – early booking advised.
