A choice of two linked days of practical sessions devoted to making ingenious one-off books in a variety of formats. These workshops are led by Jenny Smith, an accomplished Edinburgh-based artist, who is a member of the Artist Book Group who are exhibiting their work at Lyth this summer during July and August so this is an opportunity to learn how many of the fascinating books in the exhibition were designed and constructed.
The Saturday option is the first of the workshops. In the morning you will learn how to make structures from simple folded paper and in the afternoon how to make a map book which has hardback covers. All materials will be provided, but participants might like to bring paper, prints, drawings, photocopies etc. to personalise their books.
The workshop can be attended as a one-off or as part of the two day series over the weekend of Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th July.
The fee for each day’s workshop is £40 per person (£30 for usual concessions) for which a deposit is required. The fee includes materials and a light lunch. This workshop is intended for adults and older children. The centre has disabled access. Only six places will be made available for each workshop, so booking is essential.
